Unanimous Approval For New Downtown Rental Development

The City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel have unanimously approved a new downtown residential development. The project proposes a 16-storey residential tower containing 133 market rental and 37 below market rental units in Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood. The tower form allows for generous setbacks at grade, creating outdoor amenity spaces for residents. Stepping at the top mitigates shadowing on Davie Street while adding additional amenity and private rooftop patios to the north. The massing is split in two to create slimmer proportions, with the narrower east volume elongated and emphasized while the larger portion recedes in the background. Additional recesses distinguish the lobby and adjacent indoor amenity space at grade.
